assadThe Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said today that Syria has handed over its remaining stockpile of chemical weapons. Syria turned over 100 tons of toxic material, the last 8 percent of its stockpile.

OPCW Director General Ahmed Uzumcu said in a statement, “A major landmark in this mission has been reached today.” He revealed that the remaining chemical weapons “were loaded this afternoon aboard the Danish ship Ark Futura.” They will then be delivered and destroyed at a facility at U.S. vessel Cape Ray and at “commercial facilities” in the U.S., Britain, Finland, and Germany. Read more at The Washington Post.
