Technology Reveals New Dead Sea Scroll

1

With cutting-edge technology developed for NASA, the Israel Antiquities Authority discovered a fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls from Cave 11 that is not part of two scrolls originally found there.

Researchers identified the ancient Hebrew letters on the apparently blank fragment of parchment with multispectral imaging, a technique that radiates ancient, blackened parchment with 28 different types of light. Each spectrum of light revealed different aspects of the invisible letters.
