US Crosses China Air Defense Zone

china-air-defence-zoneThe United States flew two B-52s on what the Defense Department categorized as routine training missions through international air space that China claimed in its recently expanded “air defense identification zone.”

On Shabbos, the Chinese said the country has the right to identify, monitor, and take military aircraft that enter the disputed area that is also claimed by Japan.

Officials with the U.S. said the B-52s were carrying out a mission planned far ahead of the recent Chinese announcement, and that the U.S. military would continue to fly in this space as the country considers it international air space. Read more at the Wall Street Journal.
