U.S. Housing Market Picks Up

The Standard & Poor’s Case-Shiller home price index showed the largest gains in the past seven years.

In the 20 cities studied, all posted a rise in housing prices-a trend that has boosted consumer spending.

In May a report showed consumer confidence at a five-year high, and economists say growth in the existing housing market is making homeowners feel richer.
