bloombergSome state senators are telling Mayor Michael Bloomberg that more negotiations are needed before a law that gives him control of city schools is reauthorized. The 2002 law expired at the end of June, during the Senate power struggle. Bloomberg has been urging the Legislature to pass mayoral control again before the academic year starts. Senators end their session without reaching an agreement.

Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said no further negotiation is needed. He said the Senate leadership failed to keep a promise to bring the legislation to the floor for a vote.
