Yair Lapid, arch opponent of the chareidi world, helped a yeshiva find new premises after it was ordered to leave its building. The story involved the Darchei Hillel Yeshiva in the coastal town of Hadera, which, after a three year legal struggle, was issued a court order instructing it to vacate its premises by mid-Av.
As a final resort, when chareidi MKs were unable to help, Jews outside the yeshiva administration turned to Yair Lapid for help. He immediately contacted Chadera mayor Tzvika Gendelman, who belongs to his Yesh Atid party, and efforts are being made to find alternative accommodations for the yeshiva.
Yesh Atid issued a statement afterwards saying that “mutual responsibility” is one of Lapid’s central pillars and that he was ready to help anyone, regardless of his affiliation.
At the same time, chareidi and religious councilman warned Mayor Gendelman they would leave the coalition if he provides a building to a small Reform group which is asking for a place for Yom Kippur prayers.

Ok. We have to give credit where credit is due. But, boy, always happy to help before an election.
Rabeinu Yonah (Avos 1:6):
Your description of Yair Lapid as an “arch enemy of the Cheredi world” is out-and-out sheker.
The article didn’t say he was an arch enemy. It described him as an arch opponent.
The combining form of arch- means “preeminent of its kind”.
It is an out-and-out sheker to deny that Mr. Lapid has a very rich history of opposing the Chareidi world.
BUT, he’s politically savvy, and he realizes that he needs to polish up his image a bit, if he wants the Charedim to support him in his bid for the position of prime minister.
i have this feeling that he wants to do teshuva, but doesnt know how.. i think hes rethinking things
Tread carefully. He cannot be trusted. Consider him an enemy until he apologizes for his absolutely terrible past actions.
Lapid does not hate Chareidim. He just loves his way of life so much that he wants to share it. He believes that he is helping others.
IsraelReader,
Thank you for the very important words of the Rabeinu Yonah zichrono
I dont think he needs to do teshuva. It is us who need to do Teshuva
Why do I get the feeling that every “news” article on this website is an editorial…?
Because it is. And not only on this website. True journalism died a long time ago.
Avi, every news source has an editorial agenda. It often bothers those that are uncomfortable with the agenda. Is there something about the pro Torah agenda on this site that engenders discomfort?
He had am ancestor who was an enormous tzaddik and Ravi Mordecai Gross went to his kever and davened there, maybe this is a result.
