It looks like 4/20 came early to Capitol Hill. Eighteen members of Congress sent President Obama a letter today asking that marijuana be delisted or no longer classified at Schedule 1 drug. The drug is categorized higher than cocaine and methamphetamines.
The Congressional group claims that this classification “perpetuates an unjust and irrational system” that “disregards medical evidence and the laws of nearly half the states that have legalized medical marijuana.” Read more at Rep. Earl Blaumenauer’s website.

There is no justification for marijuana to be a Schedule I controlled substance, illegal under all circumstances, like heroin. It probably has more medical uses than cocaine, which is a legal prescription drug.
