Public works employees were in for a bit of a surprise today while cleaning a wooded area in Yonkers. The workers found dozens of bags filled with what remained of at least 25 dead cats. The bags were found hanging from trees. The workers took a closer look after they found a dead cat on the ground.
“Many of these cats were already decomposed, where there was only a skull or a skeleton and then you had some fresher ones where they had only been there three days,” said Ernie Lungaro, director of humane law enforcement at the SPCA.
In order to determine what killed the cats, necropsies have been scheduled. Read more at the New York Daily News.
