Iran on Tuesday conveyed a message to the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency announcing that it will begin enriching uranium to 60 percent purity in the next 24 hours, according to Reuters.
Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghch also informed the atomic energy watchdog that the Islamic Republic intends on adding 1,000 new centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear facility, located near Isfahan.
The development comes after an alleged act of sabotage caused a blackout at Natanz when an explosion damaged the facility’s electrical network.
