Prime Minister-designate Bibi Netanyahu announced Thursday he has signed a coalition deal with United Torah Judaism, making MK Yitzchok Goldknopf a member of the security cabinet.
Netanyahu on Wednesday night secured the final votes needed to form a government, 12 minutes before his deadline to do so, and called President Isaac Herzog to finalize his rise to power. Netanyahu now has a week to swear in his government.
As per the agreement, Goldknopf will also serve as construction and housing minister. The appointment that did not escape the attention of outgoing Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman.
“The man who said learning Torah is harder than to be a soldier on the front lines is going to be serving in the security cabinet. A man who chairs an anti-Zionist party that openly opposes serving in the IDF will be part of a committee that decides IDF policy. Bibi, the way you spit in the face of IDF soldiers is beyond comparison.”

When some orthodox politicians came to the Brisker Rav and told him that they don’t have that much influence in the Zionist “government” of the time, but that they did then have some influence in the Zionist “government” of which they were part, he told them that it would be better if they did not have power because that would make them responsible for all evil that the government would do.
Until now, even the frum Jews who served as ministers of a dept. in the Zionist “government” would do so only as deputy ministers, so as to limit their authority in the Zionist “government”.
So, which gadol has now permitted a frum Jew to be in not only a position of authority in the Zionist “government” but in their actual “security” cabinet?
Certainly not the Brisker Rav and Rav Reuven Grozovsky.
The saddest part of this is the number of Jews who will think that this is something about which to be proud.
