Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called Shas Chairman MK Aryeh Deri last night to express his condolences upon the passing one month ago of Chacham Ovadiah Yosef zt”l.
Abbas expressed his and the Palestinian Authority’s wishes of condolence.
Abbas also spoke about the Mideast peace process and expressed his desire for a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Shas chairman replied that “Israel is a nation that seeks peace and the Palestinian Authority has a duty to prove its serious desire for genuine peace.”
It was not clear why the PA leader decided to place the call now, over a month after the passing of Chacham Ovadiah, or what prompted the call altogether.
