Agudas Yisrael Pushes For Unity Ahead Of Elections


In light of the apparent decision by Degel Hatorah to compete in Yerushalayim and other cities independently, Agudas Yisrael appealed to Degel Hatorah, to remain unified with charedi parties in order to consolidate political power..

“With the power of unity, we can achieve greater achievements and best fulfill our mission,” explained members of the Eighth Committee of Agudas Yisrael, which supports support Yossi Deitch in the Yerushalayim Mayoral race.

They also warned a separate run would divide the  community. “A split between Agudas Yisrael and Degel Hatorah in certain cities is likely to affect other cities as well, which will harm the charedi public’s unity at this time (…)

  1. Pessach Krohn famously said a Baal bos once suggested unity in Klal Yisroel- that all shuls adopt one nusach – either Ashkenaz or Sefard. Meaning, the nusach that proposer used under his minhag. Same here, they propose unity but hold out only their candidate.
