The Yated Ne’eman’s Pesach edition features a fascinating interview with singer Avraham Fried, celebrating 40 years since his musical career started.

Avraham Shabsi Hakohen Friedman — Fried’s full name — reminisces about being the youngest of eight children of Reb Yaakov Moshe Friedman z”l, a Bluzhever chossid who lived in Boro Park when he got a job in the Lubavitcher Yeshiva. He brought along with him to his new kehillah his entire family, which today features three generations of mashpi’im and shluchim, and more than a few music stars.

It’s forty years since the release of Fried’s debut, “No Jew Will Be Left Behind,” and he says that with Hashem’s help, he’s not stopping any time soon.

I’d like to think that I’m just getting started,” Fried told journalist Yochonon Donn of the Yated.

Fried dropped a hint as to what’s coming, stating that he is now working on a regular CD, and that he is “ninety percent there.”

“I am looking for material, going over material, getting back a mix, and sending it back to redo again,” he says of the new album.

Asked to give a preview of the album, Fried hesitated.

“I do not want to spill too many beans,” he said,” “but it will be very exciting. be’eizer Hashem. It will be amazing. So just a little more patience. Stay tuned. It’s been a tough year, but we are getting there.”

When will it be out?

“Lag Ba’omer,” said Avremel. “I have always released my albums then, because that is a good time — there is a long break since Pesach when people did not hear music. I am still looking for one or two songs and then we can wrap it up.”
