A directive of Baba David Abuchatzira and the brocha of Rav Chaim Feinstein resulted in a huge deal in the sale of a luxury restaurant in Emek Refaim for double the price. About two weeks ago, one of the luxury restaurants in Emek Refaim in Yerushalayim was sold for nearly NIS 10 million, double the market value of the restaurant.

Here’s the story.

There’s a French yungerman living in Bnei Brak who inherited from his father – who passed away four months ago – a luxury restaurant in the Refaim Valley area of Yerushalayim along with his sister, who is married to a gentile. The yungerman did not want to be in business with his sister and brother-in-law, and asked to sell his share in the restaurant. However, his newly widowed mother very much wanted her son to remain as a partner in the business along with the rest of the family and viewed the sale as a violation of the “family union.” At the same time, the yungerman feels that the partnership was not suitable for his Torah lifestyle.

The yungerman went to Nahariya to the home of Baba David Abuchatzeira. Baba David told him, “You have in Bnei Brak Hagaon Rav Chaim Feinstein. Go to him and do whatever he tells you.”

The yungerman traveled to the Ramat Aharon neighborhood, entered the residence of Rav Chaim Feinstein, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ateres Shlomo, and presented his question to him. Rav Feinstein replied, “It is written in the Mishnah that the reward for kibbud av v’eim is that you reap the benefits in this world, and this is not only physically but also spiritually. Respect your mother’s wishes, wait a while, and let’s see how the matter will be resolved.”

A few days ago, a French gentleman who is one of the supporters of the kollel where the yungerman learns came to visit the kollel in Bnei Brak. Since the yungerman knows French, the rosh kollel asked the yungerman to accompany him during the visit. During their conversation, the yungerman mentioned the successful restaurant that he had inherited. The French gentleman

offered to purchase the entire business at double the going price of the restaurant. The yungerman gathered all his family members, and they all expressed their desire to sell the business at such a large profit. Thus, the yungerman’s dilemma was peacefully resolved in short order.

  1. What an amazing story — that a businessman, based on a random conversation, would not only invest millions of dollars in a restaurant, sight unseen and without even seeing its books!
And that a businessman would also offer twice the market value for this business, sight unseen and without seeing its books!!
I never heard before that one person’s bracha could cause someone else to lose their seichel!!

    Amazing!!!
    This is so inspiring!!!
