A 32-year-old Bank of America vice president who had celebrated her second wedding anniversary just weeks earlier was identified as the woman killed in a shocking, apparently random stabbing spree in Times Square on Monday afternoon.
Erin Piacenti, a resident of Chester, New Jersey, was fatally stabbed near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue during a rampage that also left a 68-year-old man wounded. The alleged attacker, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, was subsequently shot and killed by NYPD officers after police said she charged at them while armed with knives.
Piacenti worked in New York City for Bank of America, where she held the position of Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts, according to sources cited by The Post.
Piacenti had an extensive academic background. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and later earned her law degree from Fordham Law School in 2021, according to information on her LinkedIn profile.
Her death came barely three weeks after she and her husband marked their second wedding anniversary. Social media posts indicated that the couple celebrated the milestone on Aug. 10.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m., describing what happened as an “unprovoked attack.”
Police said the violence began when Cisneros produced two kitchen knives and attacked a 68-year-old man after he emerged from the subway on West 41st Street. The man was stabbed in the abdomen.
Cisneros then made her way toward West 42nd Street, where authorities said she encountered Piacenti and stabbed her, inflicting fatal injuries.
Police officers subsequently confronted Cisneros and cornered her in Times Square. The encounter ended when officers opened fire and killed her after authorities said she charged toward them while still armed with the knives.
