Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for Israel to kill dozens of people in Gaza every night, saying during a conversation with released hostage Rom Braslavski that he believes Israel should dramatically expand targeted killings in the Strip. His remarks, which surfaced Sunday, were quickly picked up by Palestinian media.
Ben-Gvir made the comments during an appearance on Braslavski’s podcast as the two discussed the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, massacre and Israel’s response. The minister criticized the recent reduction in Israeli strikes in Gaza and openly acknowledged that his position differs from that of Prime Minister Binyomin Netanyahu.
“It’s no secret, I disagree with the prime minister,” he said. “I think targeted assassinations should be carried out in Gaza, taking down 30 to 40 every night. Not just those who pose an immediate threat — there are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn’t live. They’re not even people.”
During the same podcast interview, Ben-Gvir also renewed his support for encouraging large-scale Palestinian emigration from Gaza and for rebuilding Jewish communities throughout the Strip.
“I see all of Gaza as ours,” said Ben-Gvir in the interview. “Settlements not just in Gush Katif but throughout Gaza, encouraging as much emigration as possible, sending them to their countries, and for the terrorists, no emigration, nothing, just to kill them one by one.”
