Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir pledged to take “responsibility” in the wake of this weekend’s deadly Yerushalayim terror attack, in which seven people were killed.

“The terror attack happened on my watch. I’m not shirking responsibility,” Ben Gvir said at the outset of his Otzma Yehudit party’s Monday faction meeting in the Knesset, according to Times of Israel.

Ben Gvir affirmed his commitment to resubmit legislation to institute a death penalty for terrorists. “Anyone who murders, harms and slaughters civilians should be sent to the electric chair,” he said.

  1. Not in Israel where the supreme court of injustice would deem all religious Jews terrorists.

  2. Although this is an appropriate punishment for any terrorist that is captured, it will, unfortunately not be a deterrent, since most terrorist attacks are perpetrated as suicide attacks, with the attacker not expecting to survive. Death means nothing to them, so the death penalty won’t be a deterrent. It is still necessary to mete out justice.
