President Joe Biden commemorated Jewish American Heritage Month by hosting a reception at the White House, where he emphasized his administration’s commitment to combating the rise of antisemitism.

Speaking to the audience, President Biden expressed his personal dedication to safeguarding against the spread of “antiSemitic bile,” both within the United States and around the world. He acknowledged the deep pain endured by Jewish Americans throughout history due to the pernicious forces of hatred and antiSemitism. Reflecting on his own upbringing, Biden shared how he learned about the atrocities of the Holocaust from his father, which motivated him to vehemently denounce hate in all its forms.

Biden also recounted how a neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017 influenced his decision to run for the presidency in 2020. During his campaign, he frequently referenced the “Unite the Right” rally led by white nationalists, which resulted in clashes with counterprotesters and the tragic death of Heather Heyer, who was struck by a car driven by a white nationalist. Biden interpreted this event as a call to stay engaged in the fight against hate, as he believes that hate never truly disappears but rather lies dormant until given the opportunity to resurface.

The President highlighted several actions taken by his administration to address antisemitism, including the appointment of America’s first ambassador-level special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, increased federal funding to enhance security at synagogues, Jewish community centers, and Jewish day schools, and the organization of a White House summit focused on combating hate-driven violence.

Due to earlier negotiations on the debt ceiling, President Biden arrived slightly late to the celebration. First Lady Jill Biden engaged in conversation with the attendees until President Biden joined them, jokingly remarking, “Apparently, Joe made it,” as she took her seat.

  1. Biden is such a schunk. This is a month to enjoy.

Jews are not a story about antisemitism. We are our festivals and family.

Why could not he discuss our privilege and comment on kosher or tell us about shavuous?

It’s like trying to take a strike at us when we need our family. What a schunk.

  2. What a nice opportunity to talk about shavuous, family and kosher. Maybe a quip about how Jews can keep their sabbath and work.

No. It’s always why there is someone else… the antisemite.

Thanks to Biden, this month is a ruin.
