During an interview with MSNBC today, President Joe Biden emphasized the significance of Israel’s military operations, particularly in Rafah, asserting that such actions would cross a “red line.” Despite this, he reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel, asserting, “I would never leave Israel” and underlining the ongoing importance of Israel’s defense.

Expressing concern for civilian casualties, Biden highlighted the need for Israel to exercise restraint in its pursuit of Hamas, emphasizing, “Israel cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead as a consequence of going after [Hamas].” He directed attention to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, urging him to prioritize the avoidance of civilian casualties, cautioning that such actions could ultimately undermine Israel’s security.

In a firm tone, Biden criticized Netanyahu’s approach, suggesting that the Israeli leader’s actions may inadvertently harm Israel’s interests. He remarked, “He hurts Israel more than he protects her (by killing civilians). This is a mistake,” underscoring the importance of strategic decision-making in maintaining Israel’s security.

Addressing the ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza, Biden expressed optimism, stating, “My CIA director is in that region right at this minute still talking about it. I think it’s always possible. I never give up on that.” Despite the challenges, Biden remained hopeful that diplomatic solutions could be achieved through persistent dialogue and negotiation.

Regarding his potential visit to Israel, Biden expressed interest in addressing the Knesset and engaging directly with the Israeli people. However, he stopped short of confirming any specific discussions regarding such a visit, leaving the possibility open for future engagement with Israel’s leadership and populace.

Responding to inquiries about his remarks captured on a hot microphone referencing a “come to [Yoshkah] meeting” with Netanyahu, Biden clarified that it was a serious expression intended to convey the gravity of their discussions. He noted, “Bibi knows what I meant,” suggesting a candid and straightforward approach to addressing diplomatic challenges between the two allies.

  1. Dear Israel,

You may do whatever you feel is necessary with U.S. supplied weaponry in your pursuit of Hamas terrorists, so long as no Gaza civilians (whom Hamas hides behind) are harmed. Impossible, you say? Well, sounds like you have a problem – my condition is firm.

    Your Friend,
    President Biden
