Updated: New York – If you thought winter was going to pass us by then think again. The season reminder comes from an arctic cold front that is bringing strong winds and dropping temperatures.
A wind advisory is in effect for the entire Tri-State area until midnight.
Wind gusts could reach between 40 and 50 mph Friday threatening to bring down tree limbs and power lines.
A billboard along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near Metropolitan Avenue came down onto a building at 421 Meeker Avenue in a likely wind-related incident, 1010 WINS reports.
FDNY officials said the falling billboard cause a partial building collapse and gas leak.
No injuries have been reported.
All westbound lanes are closed near McGuiness and Humboldt.
Friday night will be blustery and cold with a low of 28 however, AccuWeather reports the wind chill will make it feel like 10 degrees.
Shabbos will be brisk and cold with a high of 36. Sunday’s high will be 29.
