Today is #BlackOutDay2020, when many Black Americans plan to showcase their combined economic might by refusing to spend any money on anything at all. Those who have to buy something are being encouraged to spend their money at a Black-owned business.
Social media personality and activist Calvin Martyr has spent the last two months promoting the campaign after raising the idea in a video that has been shared thousands of time on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Major companies like Procter & Gamble (PG) and Cisco Systems, organizations like the historically Black sorority Zeta Phi Beta and celebrities like rapper T.I. have expressed support for the initiative on social media.
The objective of #BlackoutDay2020 is to force politicians and the business world to end institutionally racist policies and practices that have led to the deaths and marginalization of Black Americans.

Must not be living in America. In America there hasn’t been institutionalized racism in a century and a half. There is individual racism, just like there is individual anti-semitism, but this crock of nonsense that there is institutionalized and systemic racism is a lie bring promulgated by the left
did you miss jim crow?
They are a CURSED people….Noach cursed them…..No matter what they do, they can not shake it off…
What a dumb thing to say
Even if you were right Siyug L’Chocma Sthika
Not everything you think has to be posted online
If they boycott my store today, can I refuse to serve them the other 364 days of the year??
That is really funny!
So the proof that there is systemic racism is that black Americans have so much financial power that they can make a large impression on white businesses!
Make sense? No?
Leftists, what did you expect?

I have zero problem with blacks seeking to patronize black owned businesses. Not is there anything improper with people exercising their rights to choose which businesses to patronize. Jews like to shop by Jewish owned businesses.
If anyone thinks this will make a difference in the economy, and thus make a public statement, I cannot share their enthusiasm. I suspect that a black person who wants to buy a washing machine and uses this opportunity to refuse to buy it from a white owned business, will sooner or later appear at the store to buy it. Same goes for the birthday cake, the clothing, or the car. The money will get spent on another day, and nothing was accomplished.
Support the boycott.
No one has to buy anything from anyone so they are welcome to boycott all they want but how is boycotting privately owned businesses supposed to advance their cause?
In general boycotts usually make the targeted group more hostile not less.
Just imagine what the results would be if white Americans decided to make a counter boycott on all black owned businesses to protest affirmative action.
You don’t understand. The progressive leftists are not about substance. Symbolism is everything.
Tell me how painting slogans on the street that can only be seen from outer space, helps Black lives.
The boycott is the same thing.
Wait, so this is a republican idea right?
We are showing how prosperous the black community is in the US!
It’s better than looting and burning.
There is a designated day for that too………..Martin Looter King Day.
Does that mean Target is empty? YAY! I’m going shopping today! No need to wait in line!
Does this mean Target is empty today? YAY! I’m going! No lines:-)
I feel bad for Wendys and McDonald’s.
But the looted all their stores in their neighborhoods so ther aren’t any black owned stores left.
THEY DON’T NEED TO BUY – THEY’VE ALREADY GOT ALL THEY NEED FROM STORES THEY LOOTED.
Matzav, please do not fall for the leftist BLM line and refer to “the black American community.”
That is as accurate as referring to the “Jewish American community.” There is no such thing because American Jews are not a monolithic community – and neither are blacks.
There are plenty of blacks who are seething at what BLM has done and is doing to their communities and their reputations. Let’s at least show passive support to those who refuse to toe the BLM line by making that distinction in our headlines.
We, of all people, should know better.
When will these terrible gesheltene people just stop acting like they own the world. Why is anyone giving attention to their rambling. These are the people who have never done anything productive for society and all they care about is trying to ruin the country we are proud of. Before we turn into third world african jungle we have to wake up. The lions are getting loose. RIBOINOY SHEL OILOM
