Michael Bloomberg, who spent hundreds of millions of dollars to self-fund his 2020 presidential run, announced Wednesday that he is suspending his campaign after a poor performance on Super Tuesday, according to a source familiar.

Bloomberg came into the Presidential campaign late but hoped that heavy spending would give him a boost. The plan didn’t pan out and Bloomberg lost big time on Super Tuesday, only winning in American Samoa.

Bloomberg released a statement saying he would be leaving the race and endorsing Joe Biden.

“Three months ago, I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump. Today, I am leaving the race for the same reason: to defeat Donald Trump — because it is clear to me that staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult,” he said. “I’m a believer in using data to inform decisions. After yesterday’s results, the delegate math has become virtually impossible — and a viable path to the nomination no longer exists.

“I’ve known Joe for a very long time. I know his decency, his honesty, and his commitment to the issues that are so important to our country — including gun safety, health care, climate change, and good jobs,” he said in his statement. “I’ve had the chance to work with Joe on those issues over the years, and Joe has fought for working people his whole life. Today I am glad to endorse him — and I will work to make him the next President of the United States.”

Bloomberg has pledged to pay his massive staff to continue to work through November to support whoever becomes the eventual Democratic nominee.

  1. Too bad.
Mock him if you must, but he is by far the most sensible, centrist and pro-Israel candidate of all the contenders for the Democratic nomination.

  2. Bl$$merg is an ugly faced human. Here we all saw what a haughty arrogant elitist can come to. He thought he could just buy his way to the highest office in the land. He thought he could buy out millions of voters. He thought he could buy their love and admiration. He thought millions of Americans are so gullible and stupid. Now, besides for his lapdog yes-men, he has fallen to an all time low of disgrace and embarrassment. Very similar to what Haman experienced. May all the arrogant elitist heretics have a serious downfall.

As long as he was paying for his own campaign he had a loop hole that allowed him unlimited funding for himself from his own personal money. But if he spends any on that money on someone else then there are strict campaign contribution limits. I suppose he can get around those by paying for anti-Trump ads instead of for pro-Biden ads. But then again, by openly admitting that this spending would be on behalf of helping his candidate, I wonder if any prosecutor would be willing to test the law on that in court.
