Brine doesn’t pay.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers uncovered $4.3 million worth of methamphetamine earlier this month in a tractor-trailer hauling fresh cucumber pickles, officials said.

The drugs, which CBP South Texas described on Twitter as “funky pickles,” were found on April 17 hiding among the pickles in 114 plastic-wrapped packages, officials said.

The long distance hauler contained 217 total pounds of contraband.

Border agents at the Pharr International Bridge in Pharr, Texas, seized the drugs and truck. The case remains under investigation, CBP said in a statement.

  1. What did they expect? Which tractor-trailer hauls so many cucumbers? And plastic-wrapped, no less. Putting all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea. Couldn’t they hide it in different shapes?

  2. Recently I ate some pickles together with pickle juice to cure an alcoholic hangover that I was experiencing, but instead of feeling relieved and less high, I started flying to the moon… at the speed of light. It must have been one of these contraband pickles. But don’t worry about me; I didn’t spend much time on the moon; I got a hitch back to Earth with a group of good Samaritan aliens.
