A 28-year-old man is suspected of attempting to murder his brother by throwing him into an underground garbage container in Yerushalayim’s Gilo neighborhood, police said. The suspect, who reportedly has a mental health condition, was arrested after witnesses alerted authorities to the incident.
Police and emergency rescue personnel rushed to the scene after receiving reports that a man had been thrown into the underground container. Rescue teams worked to free the victim, who was eventually pulled from the container and transported to a hospital in moderate condition.
Investigators from the Yerushalayim District’s Moriah Police Station subsequently launched a probe to determine how the victim had ended up inside the container. Detectives gathered evidence and other findings at the scene and reviewed available footage, leading them to suspect that the victim’s 28-year-old brother was responsible.
The brother was taken into custody and questioned on suspicion of attempted murder. Police are expected to bring him before the Yerushalayim Magistrate’s Court later today and seek an extension of his detention as the investigation continues.
