The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA) has launched an aggressive campaign to counter misleading anti-Israel disinformation continually found in The Washington Post.

CAMERA will send a truck with a mobile billboard to drive around the publication’s headquarters.

One ad will feature the logo of the daily newspaper on a parrot with the slogan, “Tell The Washington Post to stop parroting Hamas lies about Israel,” the text emphasizing the word “parrot.” Another image says “Hamas is a terror group. Hamas controls the Gaza Health Ministry. Why is the Washington Post parroting Hamas’ casualty numbers?”

The mobile billboard truck aims to drive past the Washington Post offices and the surrounding K Street area every day, anticipating reaching 100,000 people daily.

Sean Durns, a senior analyst at CAMERA who writes about the paper’s journalistic malpractice, said “relying on casualty counts provided by Hamas-run institutions is akin to trusting a fox to guard a henhouse.”

“Across the spectrum, the Post trusts Hamas while simultaneously casting doubt on Israel. Its reporting is one-sided and slanted, littered with misleading omissions,” he told JNS. “And the Post’s opinion section regurgitates Hamas propaganda, including claims that Israel is perpetrating a ‘genocide,’ an antisemitic canard.“

He added that Hamas “couldn’t do what they do—enact a strategy of human sacrifice and rely on human shields while attacking civilians—without news outlets like The Washington Post.” JNS
