Israeli police have arrested Moshe Iram, an extremist from Yerushalayim suspected of a series of criminal acts against rabbonim, as well as the desecration of the kever of Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman.

Iram is suspected of having exploited young people to carry out his plots, and even tried to carry out a murder, which was halted due to his arrest.

Iram lives in central Yerushalayim near Machaneh Yehuda. He has waged violent struggles against various personalities and rabbonim in chareidi society, and one of his methods of attack is to attempt to cut their beards, including the beard of one rov on the Eidah Hachareidis whose psak he disputed. MK Meir Porush was one of his victims, as Iram had someone try to cut Porush’s beard and spray smelly water on him.

He is currently being held on claims of attempted solicitation for murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault, property damage, and more.

A number of rabbonim and lawmakers who have ordered the public to get vaccinated against the coronavirus have in recent days received threatening letters, some threatening to kill them. The originator of some of these letters is Iram.

Iram is also suspected of being behind the desecration of the kever in Bnei Brak of Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman about a month ago.

Iram has reportedly previously been arrested by the police for various offenses. But he has generally always acted independently. Even so-called “extremists” oppose his actions.
