After months of playgrounds and parks closed due to Gubernatorial and Mayoral edict, a group of children came to the park on 18th Avenue and found that it had been opened.

The opening occurred just as dozens of kids arrived by bicycle and by foot for a protest that the park should open.

Chief Charles Scholl from the NYPD drove by and found no wrongdoing to the extent that he posed for pictures with the children.

Despite today’s exception on 18th Avenue, playgrounds citywide continue to be closed despite Governor Cuomo giving Mayor de Blasio permission to open them.

  1. Not Governor Cuomo nor Mayor de Blasio are giving permission. They’re following instructions from higher-ups. If there are police protecting the children there should be no problem. Do they have police for all parks 24 hours a day? If not, keep your children away.

  2. Wow. What we learn from this is that demonstrations work, sometimes. This gives us some encouragement to head with thousands of Yiddishe kinderlach to Albany to demonstrate in front of the Governor (WHO WORKS FOR US – WE PAY HIS SALARY) for our camps and parks to fully open.

  3. Please remove this post. In Williamsburg it is reported that the NYPD welded closed the park gates.
If this “park opening” gets exposure, it may also be forced to be closed by DBlaz and his reshoim.
Certain things are better remaining quiet

  4. There is a difference between parks and playgrounds.

The question is, what if the park contains playgrounds within it as well…
