New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected to suspend his presidential bid Wednesday after placing sixth in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.

“We bet the ranch on New Hampshire, and no one ever anticipated the Trump phenomenon,” a campaign source told ABC News. “He’s a realist.”

Christie apparently expected a better finish, since he took several successful shots at Florida Senator Marco Rubio during Saturday night’s GOP debate.

Christie’s decision was also impacted by the fact that he no longer qualifies for the next debate, scheduled for Feb. 13 in Greenville. Christie spokesperson Samantha Smith told The Daily Beast, however, that no decision has been made. Read more at ABC News.
