Coldest Day Of The Season With Wind Gusts Of 50 Mph Expected

New Yorkers are being urged to bundle up — or stay indoors, if possible — as below-freezing temperatures and gusty winds hit the five boroughs Monday.

Sunday night through Monday night will be the coldest 24 hours of the season so far. The windchill value hit minus 15 degrees at Kennedy Airport around 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Monday’s high temperature was expected to top out around 16 degrees, with windchill values between minus 5 and minus 15. A wind advisory is in effect for the five boroughs through 7 p.m., with steady winds between 25 and 35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, the weather service said.

  1. It was cold here in Los Angeles too. The temp went down to 48 at night! When the temp goes below 60 in LA, that’s freezing!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.
