1994-amia-jewish-center-bombingAn Argentine federal court ruled that a memorandum of understanding between Argentina and Iran to jointly investigate the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) Jewish center is unconstitutional.

Iran is widely believed to have carried out the AMIA bombing, which killed 85 people and injured 300 in Buenos Aires.

“This memorandum of understanding signed with a sponsor of international terrorism was flawed in its very conception, and, not surprisingly, the regime in Tehran has systematically refused to cooperate in the investigation of this despicable attack,” World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder stated.

Argentina’s government has vowed to appeal the decision to the country’s Supreme Court.
