Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered a forceful defense of Jewish communities in Yehudah and Shomron during a United Nations Security Council meeting on Tuesday, declaring that Israel’s presence in the region is permanent while accusing the international body of applying a double standard in its treatment of violence.
The Security Council session was convened to discuss recent developments in Yehudah and Shomron.
Speaking before the council, Danon insisted that Jewish communities in the region are an enduring part of the Land of Israel and should not be portrayed as temporary or illegitimate.
“The Security Council must understand a simple truth: we are not going anywhere. Jewish communities will stay in Judea and Samaria. Jewish communities are not temporary outposts, nor obstacles to peace. They are permanent homes, thriving neighborhoods where families live. Judea and Samaria is where our people’s eternal connection to the Land of Israel began,” Danon declared before the council.
Danon also criticized what he described as the UN’s inconsistent approach to reporting violence in the area, arguing that attacks involving Israelis are characterized differently from those committed by Palestinian Arab terrorists.
“When Israelis are involved, this body uses a collective label, ‘settler violence.’ But when Palestinian radicals carry out attacks, you refer only to the ones responsible. That is not justice. that is prejudice,” Danon stated.
