Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday that he has chosen David Barnea to serve as the next director of the Mossad intelligence agency.
Current Mossad chief Yossi Cohen is slated to retire next week.
Barnea, 56, is a longtime deputy Mossad director. His appointment has been cleared by Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit and by the Civil Service Nominations Committee. He will assume office on June 1.
