Death Toll In Surfside Rises To 22 After Additional 2 Victims Recovered

Florida officials said rescue workers on Friday recovered two additional victims of the Surfside condo building collapse, bringing the confirmed death toll to 22.

Miami-Dade County mayor Daniella Levine Cava said that she has signed an emergency order allowing for the demolition of the remaining portion of the Champlain Towers that still stands.

Rescue efforts were halted for a number of hours on Thursday after personnel on the ground heard loud snapping sounds from the building and movement was observed. Their operations have since resumed but only in certain sections of the rubble pile.
