A state lawmaker is drawing fierce criticism after releasing a statement many in the Rockland Jewish community saw as antisemitic in response to the first case of polio in the county, Brooklyn News 12 reports.

The now-deleted statement from state Sen. James Skoufis singled out the infected patient as a member of the Orthodox Jewish community when that was not previously made public by county health officials. He also called out the private Jewish schools in the Town of Ramapo for having a “history of non-compliance with the state’s vaccine laws” and called for the “full force of the law on those who skirted these requirements” — even though the patient was a young adult, not a student.

Many say that this type of rhetoric must be called out to prevent future acts of antisemitism in the area.

The Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland and Anti-Defamation League of New York and New Jersey released a joint statement saying they were extremely concerned.
“We certainly expect that singling out and stereotyping is not going to be part of the discussion when issues of public health come up,” said Ari Rosenblum, CEO of the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland.

    • That’s right. Vaccines are not only dangerous to those foolish enough to take it, but even to those near them. The shedding is perhaps more dangerous than the vaccine itself.

      • Liar. Vaccines ended smallpox and have practically ended polio and measles. They turn COVID from deadly to survivable.

Only someone wanting dead Jews would post those lies here. Are you a Nazi? Or KKK? Or Hamas? Or Hezbollah? Or some left wing BDS supporter? They are all the same anyway and you have been exposed.

        • Wow. So anyone that disagrees with your highness in Riverdale is immediately branded as a Nazi. How mature and intelligent. No wonder you’re still single.

  1. Today many doctors no longer recommend the polio vaccine as there is no polio in the USA.
Since he is 20 years old he should have been vaccinated as a child because at that time all doctors were still giving it.

It probably is safe to presume that this person’s parents are anti-vaxxers.

  2. Its ridiculous to blame the people who arent vaccinated, when the patient actually got the vaccine strain!

    Ouch! How embarrassing!

  3. Typical backstabbing democrat politician. The party of bigotry and hate. Only an ignoramus Jew would ever vote for a democrat

    • If he were a Republican the article would say Republican over and over again and imply that all Republicans share such views. That is a horrible thing to do so let’s not do it to the Democrats. He is one Democratic state senator. Not a group.

    • But if Jewish schools aren’t enforcing the vaccine mandates they do need to change their ways or be closed. Such schools would be a menace to Jews as much as terrorists are.

      • And who are you to make such inflammatory accusations? What are your credentials? What have you ever given Yeshivos that we should listen to a dope such as yourself?

  4. Everyone is assuming the patient and/or his parents are anti-vaxxers. Maybe be Dan Lekaf Zechus? Maybe he’s allergic to the vaccine (it happens), or couldn’t get vaccinated due to other medical reasons?
