Charleston church shooting suspect Dylann Roof has confessed to police, according to two law-enforcement officials. One of the unnamed officials said Roof told police he hoped to start a “race war” with his attack.
Sources also told NBC news that Roof told police he almost backed out of the murder plot “because everyone was so nice to him,” but ultimately decided to “go through with his mission.”
They now say that Roof bought the handgun by himself in April in Charleston, while prior reports indicated it had been given to him for his birthday by his parents. Read more at CNN.
