Billionaire Elon Musk, formerly the richest man in the world, has broken a new record. The Tesla founder and Twitter owner has become the first person in history to lose $200 billion off his net worth, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index.

The multi-billion dollar bloodbath comes after Musk, 51, in 2021 became only the second person to ever amass a fortune more than $200 billion, after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Musk, whose net worth peaked in Nov. 2021 at $340 billion, has seen his wealth plunge to $137 million as Tesla shares have plummeted 65% in the past year. It has been the electric carmaker’s worst year to date. The decline included an 11% plunge on Tuesday alone after the Wall Street Journal reported that a surge in COVID cases had forced Tesla to temporarily halt production in Shanghai. (NY Post)

  1. When asked how it felt to become the first person ever to lose $200 Billion, Elon Musk told reporters on Friday: “Come on guys, let’s not get carried away! I’ll definitely find the money! I know I had it not too long ago. I just have to remember the last time I recall seeing it, and where I was at the time. Then I’ll retrace my steps, return to that location, and probably find the money under a couch or a chair… Or maybe I’ll find it inside a trash bin under a pile of used, dirty paper plates.”
Musk added: “Money doesn’t just suddenly disappear into thin air! It probably fell out my pocket somewhere. I just got to find it!”
“Or, worst-case scenario,” he said, “someone stole the money.”
“But then the Joke is on the THIEF!” Musk added. “Because let’s see him deposit $200 billion in his account without getting arrested.”
