FAKE NEWS: Rav Chaim Kanievsky’s Shtender NOT Sold for Millions

Reports earlier this week across the chareidi media stated that the shtender on which the Sar HaTorah, Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky zt”l, learned had been sold to a philanthropist in the United States.

The reports claimed that the shtender used by Rav Chaim at 23 Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak until his last few days and had been utilized for decades was sold for millions of dollars.

Matzav.com has learned that this is not the case. The shtender has, in fact, not been sold at all.

The shtender, according to our source, was brought to the United States, but, again, it has not been sold.

In the past, various objects from the home of Rav Chaim have been sold for the benefit of Torah institutions, and since the petirah of the Sar HaTorah, various people have expressed interest in purchasing objects from Rav Chaim’s home.
