The renowned Brooklyn Bake Shop in Yerushalayim has announced the closing of the store as of this weekend.

The bakery has been active for thirty years – 22 years on Rechov Malchei Yisroel in Geulah and the last eight years in Meah Shearim.

Among those who frequented the store were Americans and expats who liked that the bakery resembled the styles and standards of America and will now have to make do with other stores.

In an ad in Hebrew and English, the store explained that the owner of the business, who is also the confectioner, has decided to retire.

  1. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been in Me’eh She’arim for more than 8 years. I was not in Eretz Yisroel in about 10 years, and it was already on Me’eh She’arim then.

  2. Most American style stores want to charge American prices and expect to earn a living in several short hours because they’re “special”.

Good riddance. They weren’t that good.
