Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that a rollback on coronavirus restrictions could begin as early as next month in some places — while conceding that more lives could have been spared if the restrictions had been put in place sooner.
Fauci, a key member of the White House coronavirus track force and one of the nation’s leading experts on infectious diseases, acknowledged on CNN’s “State of the Union” that “if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier you could’ve saved lives.”
“Obviously no one is going to deny that,” Fauci said, “But what goes into those kinds of decisions is complicated.”
Fauci also said that parts of the country could begin to see an easing of the restrictions as early as next month, in what he said would be “a roving re-entry.”
