The Federal Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into the killing of Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in May.

In September, the IDF concluded its own investigation into the death of Abu Akleh, who was killed during a firefight between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen in Jenin. The IDF stated at the time that “it appears that it is not possible to unequivocally determine the source of the gunfire which hit Ms. Abu Akleh. However, there is a high possibility that Ms. Abu Akleh was accidentally hit by IDF gunfire that was fired toward suspects identified as armed Palestinian gunmen, during an exchange of fire in which life-risking, widespread and indiscriminate [fire was directed] toward IDF soldiers.”

The IDF had added that the possibility of Abu Akleh being hit by Palestinian fire “remains relevant.”

On Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Israel would not cooperate with the FBI’s probe or any external investigation into the killing of Abu Akleh.

“The U.S. Justice Ministry’s decision to investigate the unfortunate death of Shireen Abu Akleh is a serious mistake,” Gantz said in a statement. JNS

  1. When asked whether Israel would coperate with the FBI probe, one Israeli official told reporters: “We don’t have time for that type of nonsense. There are American citizens who were deliberately murdered in cold blood, on Israeli soil, by Palestinian terrorists – not inadvertently – and the victims of these families are demanding justice for the victims.”
“The FBI, the US courts and the Biden administration aren’t helping us in this matter.” he said, “So we’ve got to deal with these murders all on our own, while satisfing the justified demands of the victims’ families. We’ve got way too much on our plate to deal with, and we simply don’t have time for these FBI witch-hunts.”
“However,” he said, “if the FBI has any advice to offer us on how we can protect our citizens and US citizens from being bombed to death by Palestinian terrorists, we’re listening.”
“I only wish the FBI would have arrested Yassir Arafat for his complicity in the murder of American citizens,” he added. “Instead, the Clinton administration treated him like a King. Go figure!”

  2. There were eight journalists killed in the fighting in the Ukraine so far two women and six men.
So far no one is investigating.

I guess the FBI can’t spare anyone from the Abu Akhleh investigation.

  3. why is the FBI of america meddling with Israel? what would the world say if the israeli police force will decide to investigate flyod or Jan. 6?!?!

  4. The article below was published on Matsav 11/15/2022. Note that a bystander was injured by a ricochet.

Since this correspondent was killed by a “deformed” bullet, how can anyone prove the shot was not a ricochet?

According to Israel Hayom, the soldier saw the man attack a second person at the bus stop before opening fire.

The incident was still under investigation, though terrorism has been ruled out, police said.

A second individual at the scene was moderately wounded by a ricochet, and evacuated to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, police and paramedics said.
