The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to change emergency use authorizations for Pfizer/ BioNTech and Moderna coronavirus vaccines on Thursday to allow immunocompromised people to get a third dose of the vaccine to boost their immunity to the Delta variant, according to NBC News.

The announcement is expected within 48 hours, according to several sources.

The Biden administration is expected to implement a Covid-19 vaccine booster strategy for all Americans vaccinated in September.

On July 12, Israel began vaccinating immunocompromised people with a third dose of the vaccine. Now, all those over 60 have been entitled to receive the booster shot, which will likely shortly include people over 40 as well.

So far, no major side effects have been observed and a significant increase in antibodies has been noted in those who received the third dose.
