El Al #LY26 from New York to Tel Aviv has been diverted to the airport in Halifax due to an emergency mid flight.
The pilot declared a Mayday for smoke in the aircraft and was rerouted by air traffic control to the nearest airport, in Halifax.
The plane is currently dumping fuel enroute to reduce landing weight.

We are here at Halifax airport. Going to Lord Nelson Hotel, 15 min walk from Chabad.

I have just checked the flight details of the same flight last week
It left after 8pm in NY and arrived nearly ten hours later in TLV. Which was after 1pm in EY time. That leaves about 3 hours to go through passport, get baggage and get to destination Yerushalayim Bnei Brq Ashdod even Kiryat Sefer and then prepare for Shabbos. (assuming no traffic on Kvish 1 etc)
May include checking in to hotel for guests etc.
Very tight!
All this assumes no delays anywhere!
My question is, as I asked last year is this:
How can any frum Yid get on that flight?
I have just travelled back from NY to UK on Thursday night (after Daf Siyum) We took off at 6.30pm and arrived in UK before 6.00am. There was time to do the flight twice so plenty of time for delay and was still not happy with it, but didnt have much choice.
Now these Yidden have no chance to get to EY on time. So Chabad will look after them Kol Ha kovoid to them, or maybe they will go back to New York,
So what right do they have to get on that flight?
