Tonight, the Israeli War Cabinet will reconvene after nearly a two-week hiatus, aiming to tackle the deadlock in negotiations for the release of hostages in Gaza.

Originally scheduled for last week, the discussion was postponed due to heightened tensions sparked by the Iranian attack on Israel and the ensuing response.

Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot spearheaded calls for the meeting, emphasizing the need for fresh and inventive approaches to resolve the disputes and secure the hostages’ freedom.

There’s speculation within political circles that Israel anticipates increased American pressure on Qatar to leverage its influence over Hamas. This comes in the wake of Hamas agreeing to release only 20 hostages in exchange for a six-week ceasefire.

Reports from Arab media sources suggest ongoing talks between Turkey and Hamas. These discussions aim to relocate senior Hamas figures from Qatar to Istanbul.
