Israel’s Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz is set to head to Washington Tuesday for high-level talks.
According to Monday’s statement from the Defense Ministry, Gantz will meet with US Defense Secretary Mark Esper and other senior Pentagon officials.
On their agenda are Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region, the Iranian issue and US-Israeli security cooperation in the Middle East.
The visit comes as Washington is mulling the sales of its advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates — something US President Donald Trump said he had “absolutely no problem” doing in the wake of the normalization accord between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi.
