googleToday, Google announced ‘Project Sunroof,’ which uses data from Google Maps to tell people if solar panels would work in their houses and exactly how they could be used best.

After typing in an address, the website uses satellite imagery to calculate roof shapes and even puts homeowners in touch with panel installers in the area.

The project is only currently available in San Francisco, Boston and Fresno. Read more at Popular Science.
