It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Habochur Shlomo Sorotzkin z”l. He was 19 years old.

Shlomo had battled illness for several years, fighting valiantly while thousands davened for his refuah.

He was a son of R’ Chaim Dov and Mrs. Sara Aliza Sorotzkin of the Pine River kehillah in Lakewood, NJ. He was grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Bentzion Sorotzkin (Brooklyn) and Rabbi and Mrs. Yisroel Gluck (Chicago).

Back in 2016, R’ Chaim Dov and Sara Aliza sustained the tragic passing of their infant daughter, Baila Brocha a”h. May they know no further tzaar.

The levayah will be held at 10:30 tonight at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street in Lakewood, NJ, followed by kevurah in the adjacent bais hachaim.

The family will be sitting shivah at 12 Sequoia Street in Lakewood. Shacharis 8:00 am, Mincha 5:00 pm, Maariv 9:30 pm. Women are requested to only come during the following times: 10:00-1:30, 2:30-6:15, 7:30-10:00.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. We share in the tzaap of the Sorotzkin family. May the be zoche to a true nechamah. However, what does fighting valiantly mean? We could daven and do mitzvos to be zocheh to a yeshuah, however we do not fight the will of Hashem. Unless fighting valiantly means with tfiloh.

    • May you and all of Klal Yisrael never know what that means.

It probably means doing whatever hishtadlus they were told would medically fight the illness, no matter how difficult that was (hence the “fighting valiantly”) and obviously not CH”V fighting Hashem.

  2. fighting valiantly means absorbing King Solomon’s words that there is a time and place for everything. You read the story and the part of your comment that was empathetic was wonderful. Then, you decided to not control the urge to comment on the part that burned inside of you. Had you valiantly fought that urge and not made that part of your comment, that would have been the correct move since it’s not the right time or place for such comment.
