The House held a moment of silence on Tuesday commemorating NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

Rep. Maxine Waters called for the moment of silence on the floor, highlighting Bryant’s career and noting the devotion of his fans.

“Mr. Speaker, I stand today on behalf of all Californians and certainly the entire city of Los Angeles and millions of fans worldwide who are mourning the sudden and tragic loss of one of the greatest athletes we have ever known, Kobe Bryant,” she said.

“Celebrated as a king in Los Angeles, Kobe’s death is deeply painful for our city and his millions of fans everywhere,” she added.

  1. If the House holds a moment of silence for a player, he obviously had connections with some insiders. Which Deep State / CIA criminal needed to get rid of him and bombed his plane out? (This is typical how Hillary used to get her people out of the way.)

  2. did they have a moment of silence when the world trade center was bombed by arabs and 3000plus died ?????or is a basketball player worth more than 3000 people???

  3. I have just watched his short animated “Dear Basketball” and am in awe of his passion and self-sacrifice.

We should also be grateful for all the young people he inspires to play basketball.
