Rafael Grossi, the leader of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), expressed apprehension regarding the potential targeting of Iranian nuclear installations by Israel, Reuters reports.

Grossi indicated that Iran had temporarily closed its nuclear facilities citing “security considerations” on Sunday, with operations resuming on Monday. However, he maintained a cautious stance by refraining from allowing IAEA inspectors access “until we see that the situation is completely calm.”

“We are planning to recommence tomorrow,” Grossi informed journalists in New York, emphasizing that the closure did not disrupt their inspection activities.

When queried about the prospect of Israel launching an attack on Iranian nuclear sites, Grossi acknowledged the perpetual concern, advocating for “extreme restraint” in such scenarios.

The IAEA conducts routine inspections of Iran’s primary nuclear installations, including its enrichment facilities situated in Natanz, pivotal to the nation’s nuclear initiatives.

Grossi’s remarks coincided with conjecture surrounding Israel’s potential retaliation following Iran’s drone and missile strike on Saturday night.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that U.S. officials perceive Israel to be gearing up for a response to Iran’s substantial offensive, anticipated in the near term.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi’s visit to the Nevatim Airbase on Monday followed two days after the facility incurred damage from the Iranian missile and drone assault. Halevi affirmed that an appropriate reaction would be forthcoming to the Iranian aggression.

Concurrently, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, cautioned Israel against retaliatory actions, warning that any response to Israeli retaliation “will not be measured in days and hours, but in seconds.”

  1. This dope and his fake organization kept telling us that Iran was not building nuclear weapons – it was only for enery/fuel. This dope thought we were as naeive as he. Now he wants us to protect it.

  2. More likely, Israel is concerned that Iran will attack Israel’s nuclear facilities in Dimona and elsewhere in Israel. Iran’s nuclear facilities have been destroyed during President Trump’s first term in office.
