Israel is slated to transition from standard time to Daylight Saving Time (DST) tonight.

When the clock strikes 2 am on Friday, Israelis will adjust their clocks forward by one hour to 03:00, sacrificing an hour of sleep in exchange for more daylight in the evenings until DST concludes on October 27.

While most smartphones will automatically update the time, it’s advisable to verify this. If uncertain, access your phone settings, switch the date and time setting from automatic to manual, and designate “Jerusalem” under “local time.”

DST involves advancing the clock by an hour from standard time during the summer months and reverting it back in the autumn, aiming to optimize natural daylight usage. Although several nations have opted to abandon the biannual clock adjustment, Israel has upheld the practice despite ongoing debates within the Knesset.

  1. Israel switches to Daylight Saving Time just so that they can follow the meshugaz of the rest of the world.

  2. Daylight Savings Time Opponents: “Saving The Hostages Is More Important Than Saving Daylight!”
A group of Israeli activists, who’ve been vocal about their opposition to switching to Daylight Savings Time, insist they’re not actually opposed to the idea, but they believe the need to save the hostages in Gaza takes precedence over the need to save daylight.
“I mean, I would have preferred they save the hostages first, and then focus their attention on saving daylight,” said Akiva Goldenstein, a Hostage Saving activist and Daylight Savings critic, “because I’m pretty certain Daylight would agree to wait a little bit longer to be saved, but the hostages can’t afford to wait even one second longer.”
