Israel’s hospitals on Sunday warned of their inability to cope with the influx of patients caused by the spread of the highly transmittable Omicron variant of coronavirus, Ynet News reports. According to several hospitals, the Omicron’s spread, consequent surge in COVID cases, uptick in seriously ill coronavirus patients, as well as the frequent quarantine of medical workers – have all brought the health system and its workers to the brink.

The Kaplan Medical Center was forced to close its gates to ambulances due to an overload of patients and a lack of medical staff, many of whom are in quarantine due to exposure to COVID. Kaplan’s dedicated COVID ward is currently full to capacity with 80 coronavirus patients.

Ynet News reports that even when space is made available, the wait for hospitalization can take hours, which is another sign of the system’s inability to cope with the huge uptick in patients.

The director of Hadassah Medical Center in Yerushalayim, Prof. Yoram Weiss, says that no less than 380 employees are in quarantine.

  1. Kaplan’s Medical Center has the capacity for 80 patients and all 80 beds are taken. Okay. 80 people, from the overall entire population of Israel, is not that bad at all. What’s the screaming panic stricken headline? Most of the Israeli citizens are healthy and fine. So are most of the citizens of the United States. Stop being so negative. The world is not coming to an end. It’s no wonder that most people have a distrust and hate for the media. Me included.

  2. Tell the truth, the real problem is the ridiculous bidud rules, for people who are not sick. This is short staffing the hospitals. It’s not b/c are in the hospital with covid.

  3. Yup its all a plot against trump.
Wake up and smell the coffee- if you can still smell. Reality isn’t made up nonsense like what’s going thru your mind….
